Journal Your Way Into The New Year

The cold weather finds us snuggling inside our warm homes.  Make the most of this transitional time to develop deeper insight and capture endearing memories.
I love journals!!! There are so many varieties, from handmade papers to journals that are too beautiful to keep hidden away.  If you are looking for a nice way to spend some contemplative time here are some inspiring prompts to get you started.

  • What is going well in my life right now

  • What could be improved

  • What are three things you are grateful for

  • Create a short term goal to be accomplished within two weeks

  • Create a long term goal to be accomplished within one year

  • What area of your life could use a little more love and attention

  • Write a letter to your future self

  • What would you do if you weren't afraid

  • What is stressing you out right now

  • What three action steps could you take now to alleviate your stress

  • Write about anything that needs to be expressed

Here are some tips to be a free flowing journaling guru. Journaling is a private side of us, give yourself permission to let your heart flow onto the paper. Lock the judgemental mind up in another room. Set a timer, make a great cup of coffee or tea, or yeah, even your Diet Coke. This is about self care and expansion, just be. Be grateful for this learning and opening experience. You will truly be amazed in a year or two when you pick up that filled journal and you read all about where you have been and how much in your life has changed.

Writing provides a realness to our lives. Often times we have so many thoughts and emotions running through us, we could be experiencing a traumatic situation or difficult relationship and we feel life will never get better. Writing and looking back is a beautiful practice to see how strong we really are, its evidence that we walk through the fire and are transformed by our own life story. And hey, don’t forget to doodle!
